Genesis10 is currently seeking a HOSPITAL SOFTWARE ANALYST I, II, III with our client in the Hospital industry in their Bronx, NY location. This is a full-time permanent position Description: Seeking a HOSPITAL SOFTWARE ANALYST I, II, III is responsible for the ongoing professional support of a designated suite of clinical/financial/operational applications, including process analysis, design, implementation, and upgrades, such as SaaS/ASP model software, Client/Server Software, Faxing Software, Dispensing Software, Interface Software. Performs above in accordance with the Patient Safety and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA) Acts, The Joint Commission (JCAHO) and other regulatory agencies Responsibilities: Hospital Software Analyst I Provides clients with general directions to improve application processing and to resolve problems. Prepares project status and related reports. Creates online forms, templates and databases to meet department and user needs. Analyze and triage existing NPR/MAT reports; identification of new reports that may be required. Reviews data conversions. Configures printers and workstations. Develops and/or assists with analysis and design of custom queries, screens and forms to support proposed work processes. Performs menu analysis, configuration, and development assistance. Hospital Software Analyst II (in addition to the above): Conducts feasibility studies which includes reviewing and evaluating existing software, developing cost/benefit needs assessments, and recommending changes to improve efficiencies and resolve problems; analyzes systems and procedures in defining problems prior to programming; includes analysis and design, identification and implementation of "best practices". Creates and prepares user documentation and training materials/sessions. Conducts user training sessions for medical professionals. Defines database elements; creates programs for a variety of database applications; reviews software programs step-by-step to ensure logical flow. Plans and coordinates project implementation that includes assisting department contacts with initial run of new and/or revised systems; contacts members of data processing support service units to coordinate timely delivery of completed projects. Provides support for dictionary analysis and development, and parameter analysis/configuration; provides support for dictionary conversions as needed. Creates and implements special design considerations /interfaces. Analyzes a variety of information to determine how to deploy the system so it performs the functions the client wants automated; updates, revises, and evolves analysis models to reflect the client's requirements and environmental (e.g., computers, operating systems) constructs and constraints. Hospital Software Analyst III (in addition to all of the above): Acts as team leader, which includes assigning tasks and providing general direction and technical guidance to team members, and monitoring and preparing reports on the team's progress. Manages software change process as required during the development and testing efforts. Ensures compliance with security initiatives as they apply to system access. Designs and creates new functionality in clinical applications; manipulates/configures applications to fit hospital/clinical needs; makes revisions to correct existing programs; designs and develops on-line programs for major systems; develops recommendations including alternatives and implementation strategies. Researches and presents recommendations to improve service and systems applications to management and client-users. Initiates and/or coordinates implementation of system enhancements and upgrades with vendors and users. Requirements: A combination of experience, education, and/or training which substantially demonstrates the following knowledge, skills and abilities: Knowledge and Skills: Hospital Software Analyst I requires some knowledge; Hospital Software Analyst II requires working knowledge; and Hospital Software Analyst III requires thorough knowledge of: Typical financial and clinical applications. Medical documentation processes and applications. Principles, practices, and current trends in hospital/clinical organization, administration, operations and structure. Principles, methods, and techniques used in developing software programs. Principles and techniques applied in designing systems. A variety of applications and control languages, programming languages and development tools. Personal computer (PC), minicomputer, and mainframe computer operations, capabilities, and limitations; server structures. Principles and practices of project management; project and technical documentation, and estimation of resource requirements. Basic methods and techniques used in the analysis, design, development, and implementation of computer application programs and operational systems. Principles and techniques of file management, data flow/structure, system flow/control, decision tables, and data dependencies. Principles and techniques of programming, including menu programming and report programming. Requirements of the Patient Safety Act and HIPAA regulations, as related to clinical information systems and data. Requirements of EMTALA (Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act), as related to clinical information systems and data. Principles and practices of basic PC helpdesk functions and procedures, technical problem solving, troubleshooting; design and setup of interfaces. Principles, practices, and techniques of client service. Software training techniques. System development life cycle concepts. MS Office Suite. Team dynamics and team building. Basic software quality assurance control. Print server functionality; fax and script solutions with hospital systems. Hardware support, such as barcode scanners, and printer. Skill and Ability to: Multitask; balance multiple, conflicting priorities. Analyze complex procedures and data, define problems, develop logical conclusions and recommend effective alternative solutions. Develop plans and achieve objectives; design and interpret diagrams representing computer processes. Utilize project management tools. Code, test and implement applications. Prepare system and program documentation to department standards. Gather and analyze data, reason logically, draw valid conclusions, and make appropriate recommendations. Resolve programming problems and recommend methods to better utilize computer resources. Perform systems analysis work and conduct feasibility studies. Design new and revise existing applications; apply electronic data processing principles and techniques in developing software, procedures, and programs. Interpret and follow detailed written and oral instructions. Prepare clear, complete, and concise reports and documents, including user training materials. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff members and clients. Communicate effectively with people at all organizational levels. Work under pressure, with tight deadlines, and minimal supervision. Take initiative. Research and identify resources as well as challenges. Make oral presentations to technical and non-technical audience. Read, interpret, and apply information from complex technical publications and documentation. Promote and maintain a team environment. Organize, prioritize, and schedule multi-activity workload. Develop and evaluate technology alternatives for resolving client business problems. REQUIRED CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT As a condition of employment, the incumbent will be required to: May be required to work overtime, irregular hours, variable shifts, evenings, weekends and holidays. May come in contact with infectious organisms and other potentially hazardous substances. EXAMPLES OF EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/TRAINING Any combination of training, education and/or experience which provides the knowledge, skills, abilities and required conditions of employment listed above is qualifying. An example of a way these requirements might be acquired is: Education: Bachelor's degree in information systems or related field preferred. Experience: For All Three Levels: One to three years' experience (depending on level) in systems analysis or computer programming in a healthcare environment. For Hospital Software Analyst II and III: One to two years of progressively responsible analytical experience performing a variety of information technology systems analysis, design, development, installation, implementation, or technical support duties in connection with information technology systems, healthcare related computer systems or analysis of operational methods and designing information technology systems to meet desired results in the healthcare environment. For Hospital Software Analyst III: One or more years of experience in a leadership position on an information technology project, or participation with other analysts on information technology systems studies of a complex nature or broad scope. PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS The physical and sensory abilities required for this classification include: Sight sufficient to read computer screens and standard computer printouts. Strength to lift a 30-pound object, without assistance, and items weighing up to 150 pounds with assistance. Manual and finger dexterity sufficient to work with hands in close tolerances and to work with small electronic components. Speech adequate to project voice clearly and adequately to speak in public. Mobility and agility sufficient to bend, stoop and crawl, in order to access computers and servers. Ability to walk and/or stand for 4 hours, such as while conducting training sessions. Ability to remain seated at computer station for extended periods. Hearing adequate to distinguish and identify sounds and voices in a typical office environment. Ability to work around infectious organisms and other potentially hazardous substances.
