As part of the Hampton Roads Connector Partners (HRCP) Joint Venture, Flatiron has been selected to construct the new Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel (HRBT) Expansion Project in Virginia. As a General Superintendent for Structures and Bridges, you will schedule, coordinate and supervise activities of workers (laborers, operators, carpenters, finishers, etc.).
The multibillion dollar HRBT project scope will include: a new bridge-tunnel crossing, replacement of existing marine approach bridges, the addition of a third lane on 1-64 in each direction, and new bridge-tunnel complex that will accommodate 4 lanes of traffic for a total of 8 lanes of capacity across the water and is expected to conclude in 2025.?
Promote and enforce compliance with project safety program requirements; document and ensure corrective measures are implemented
Provide positive safety leadership to the project and actively participate in safety meetings
Mentor and coach superintendents as it relates to company policies and procedures and work requirements
Review field operations and ensure that the project provides a safe workplace
Supervise superintendents assigned to you and provide liaison between field engineering, estimating, and crafts to ensure compliance of construction with drawings and specifications
Participate in bid review to determine schedule, estimated job cost, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and available resources to various phases of project
Participate in project presentations to elected officials, general public and other stake holders
Coordinate with project staff to outline workplan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority
Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget
Review status and modify schedules or plans as required. Prepares project reports for management, owners, and subcontractors as needed
Confer with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems
Coordinate project activities with activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies
Work closely with Company employees, project supervisors, owners, external teams and support people to get commitments regarding PM's managerial and supervisory requests
Manage subcontractor, owner and public relations
Set productive, consistent, and acceptable work example
Coordinate material purchases, assure that subcontractor agreements are prepared and change orders are accurate and issued to owners, subcontractors and suppliers
Resolve construction problems (lack of productivity, work interfaces, etc.) as required
Knowledge and understanding of local union or prevailing wage rules
Ensures workers for each task are fully qualified to perform assigned duties
Coordinate sub-contractors onsite
Maintains knowledge of Flatiron?s company values and strategic plan
Support published corporate policies
Perform additional assignments per management?s direction
Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited institution or equivalent heavy civil construction related experience and/or training
15+ years of experience as a structures superintendent on?large scale bridge and heavy highway projects, with at least?
Previous experience as a project/general superintendent on a $500M+ project leading multidisciplinary teams
Expert knowledge of tool & equipment safety
